Sorting through a box of old papers during lockdown in the Winter, Barbara Salter came across diaries written when she was a teenager in 1959-61 and had been diagnosed with TB. In her talk, Barbara will describe the writing process, the path to publication, say something about marketing, and read some extracts from her book Bed Absolute: A teenage diary of TB in the 1960s.
Barbara Salter has written all her life for pleasure and as part of her work. Her early career included being a secretary, a copy-writer and a teacher of English in secondary schools in England and a university in America. She retired as a Senior Civil Servant in 2004 with a CBE.
